We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Director of Compliance to support compliance initiatives within our wholesale mortgage operations. This individual will be part of the team responsible for ensuring adherence to applicable federal and state regulations, investor guidelines, and internal policies. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of mortgage industry compliance requirements, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to operational integrity. This role is for an individual contributor and requires full-time, 100% onsite attendance at our Pontiac office.

 
 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Interpret federal, state, and agency mortgage regulations applicable to wholesale lending.
  • Review and assess company practices to ensure ongoing compliance with industry laws and standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on the alphabet soup of regulations, including but not limited to RESPA, TILA, and TRID.
  • Conduct compliance reviews focused on company processes, identifying potential risks and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with various teams, particularly IT, to troubleshoot potential issues and propose solutions.
  • Support regulatory examinations and third-party audits by gathering required documentation and facilitating responses.
  • Analyzing rules and regulations, exam findings, and other audit findings to identify potential process and technical enhancements.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • At least 5 years Compliance experience is required
  • 5 years mortgage experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with compliance rules and regulations specific to mortgages
  • Understanding of compliance controls and implementing compliance management systems
  • Experience analyzing regulatory and exam findings and implementing solutions
  • Experience with project management as it pertains to technical deploys, guidance changes, and new products
  • Bachelor’s degree or CRCM preferred; JD is a plus
  • Organized individual that is capable of managing various projects simultaneously
  • Communicates effectively verbally and non-verbally, and possess strong technical skills
  • Actively seeks out solutions and escalates potential issues to leadership
  • Demonstrated advanced use of MS Office software features and techniques
  • Proficiency with mortgage LOS platforms and compliance management systems preferred
  • Onsite attendance is required
