The Lockbox Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting of mortgage payments received through lockbox services. This role ensures all payments are correctly posted to customer accounts in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements, working closely with treasury, servicing, and bank partners to resolve discrepancies and maintain high standards of data integrity.
This position is 100% on-site in Pontiac, Michigan.
• Monitor daily lockbox files and validate that mortgage payments have been received and properly processed.
• Review and post payments to customer accounts in the servicing system, ensuring accuracy in application (e.g., principal, interest, escrow).
• Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, returned items, and misapplied funds.
• Reconcile lockbox activity against bank reports and internal accounting records.
• Collaborate with IT, treasury, and bank partners to troubleshoot file transmission errors or payment discrepancies.
• Research and respond to internal and external inquiries related to payment posting and lockbox exceptions.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on lockbox activity, exceptions, and trends.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., CFPB, RESPA) and internal servicing guidelines.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance lockbox efficiency and reduce errors.
• Support audits and examinations by providing documentation and explanations of lockbox processes and transactions.
Must-Have Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in mortgage servicing, treasury operations, or lockbox processing.
• Experience working with mortgage servicing systems (e.g., MSP, LoanServ, Black Knight) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Working knowledge of lockbox operations and banking systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a customer service mindset.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
