The Front-End Loss Mitigation Specialist plays a key role in the early stages of mortgage delinquency management. This position is responsible for reviewing borrower situations, gathering financial information, educating borrowers on available options, and initiating loss mitigation strategies to avoid foreclosure. The specialist ensures compliance with investor, regulatory, and company guidelines while providing high-quality customer service.
• Contact borrowers at early stages of delinquency (30–60 days) via phone, email, and written communication to assess financial hardship and explain options.
• Gather and review borrower financials to determine eligibility for various loss mitigation solutions such as forbearance, repayment plans, loan modifications, and hardship assistance programs.
• Guide borrowers through the loss mitigation application process, ensure complete document submission, and provide regular status updates.
•Ensure all interactions and actions are documented in the servicing system according to CFPB, FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other investor requirements.
• Collaborate with underwriting, collections, and customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of loss mitigation requests.
• Educate borrowers on the consequences of non-payment and promote early intervention strategies to prevent foreclosure.
•Track application status, deadlines, and escalate accounts at risk of timeline violations or regulatory breaches.
Must-Have Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years in mortgage servicing, loss mitigation, collections, or related financial services.
• Experience with investor guidelines (FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of mortgage delinquency, loss mitigation, and foreclosure prevention practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in mortgage servicing software (e.g., MSP, Black Knight) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet regulatory deadlines.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
