The Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing and monitoring insurance requirements on mortgage loan accounts to ensure compliance with investor, insurer, and regulatory guidelines. This includes tracking borrower-provided insurance policies, identifying coverage gaps, processing insurance documents, coordinating lender-placed insurance when necessary, and communicating effectively with borrowers, insurance agents, and internal departments.
• Review and validate homeowner’s insurance policies for coverage, dates, and accuracy.
• Ensure timely receipt and input of insurance policy updates into servicing systems.
• Monitor for lapses in coverage or insufficient policies.
• Coordinate placement and cancellation of lender-placed insurance when required.
• Notify borrowers of impending LPI actions and follow appropriate procedures.
• Contact borrowers or insurance agents to obtain current insurance information.
• Respond to inquiries regarding insurance coverage, escrow accounts, and LPI.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., RESPA, CFPB) and investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
• Document all communications and actions accurately in the loan servicing system.
• Work with escrow, loss mitigation, customer service, and other departments as needed.
• Assist in audits, quality control reviews, and reporting.
Must-Have Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• 1-3 years of mortgage servicing, insurance verification, or escrow experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Proficient with mortgage servicing systems (e.g., Black Knight MSP) and Microsoft Office
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Knowledge of insurance terminology and mortgage industry practices
Nice To Have Qualifications:
• Familiarity with force-placed insurance processes
• Experience with servicing platforms like Black Knight, LoanServ, or equivalent
• Bilingual (e.g., Spanish) a plus
