Digital Media Planning Strategist

The Digital Media Planning Strategist will drive new strategic relationships, identify new opportunities, and pursue and test new innovations and scenarios with media platforms across our brands, United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM and UWMcareers), BeAMortgageBroker.com and FindAMortgageBroker.com.


In this role, you’ll work with marketing team channel and business owners to define needs, audiences, usage and behavior data in order to determine what types of advertising will best suit our goals. You’ll uncover and define new and expanded campaigns and other messaging solutions through digital and traditional formats, from online platforms to OTT, websites, podcasts, radio and billboards. And you’ll partner with the team’s Media Buyer (who leads day-to-day campaign management) to ensure the effectiveness and performance of solutions throughout their lifecycle.

Strategic Planning

  • Conduct internal and external audience, industry, and competitive market research to build media analyses, objectives and strategies
  • Align campaign strategies and goals and set acquisition and growth targets with internal team channel and business owners
  • Collaborate with internal team members to define best messaging and creative approaches across multiple platforms
  • Create and present media plans and proposals, including costs
  • Develop hypotheses and work with the Buyer to test recommendations, including platform tests, interest targeting, incrementality tests and spend scaling tests
  • Function as our SME of paid marketing platforms and techniques, proactively identifying opportunities to innovate and develop new techniques, and/or platforms and channels to leverage in order to meet brand goals

 Relationship Management

  • Lead and nurture existing media relationships
  • Proactively identify and vet new media vendors

 Education & Ownership

  • Keep leadership informed and engaged, proactively share best practices and enhance intra-team communication


  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least four years of digital media strategy/planning
  • Broad understanding of the media landscape and experience planning for traditional and non-traditional channels and platforms; interest in following advertising and media trends
  • Able to identify big picture goals and connect to relevant media-based solutions
  • Familiarity with campaign evaluation metrics; strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Proactive learner with strong ownership skills; ability to self-direct and manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail
  • Loves collaboration, a team environment and is a clear communicator
