Secondary Marketing Trader

The Trader will support the day-to-day trading of Agency MBS specified pools and TBAs and overall pipeline management.  The Trader will develop and maintain external relationships with broker dealers and provide market color on trade opportunities, relative value and hedge positioning in addition to collaboration with internal stakeholders.


  • Responsible for ensuring the Company’s mortgage loan pipeline is forecasted, tracked and hedged properly within the market.
  • Executes daily pool and TBA sales so as to maximize potential returns and minimize interest rate risk exposure.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the broker dealers. Collects market color, trade ideas and research from the street and implements enhanced processes.
  • Provides Management with ongoing information about relative value, market sentiment, trading environment, trading volume and price volatility.
  • Develops and provides metrics on trading and execution.
  • Provides Capital Market team members with daily market updates.
  • Oversees secondary market duties that aid in the selling and purchasing of loans, streamlining existing processes to facilitate loan sales.
  • Schedules and participates in calls with broker dealers to build relationships and enhance profitability.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 2+ years of trading experience in Agency MBS Spec Pools/TBA or other Fixed Income Products.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage capital markets, mortgage-backed securities and overall secondary mortgage market.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player, attention to detail, self-starter, work ethic.
  • Familiarity with Third Party software programs and analytics used in mortgages; experience working with QRM and Bloomberg is a plus.
